The BTU Ranch was previously owned by Peabody Energy (NYSE: BTU), the United States’ largest coal mining company. This ranch functioned as the Peabody executive hunting ranch for 75 years. Due to the plummeting popularity of coal and Peabody’s rapidly declining stock value, the mining company began selling off all non-core assets in 2015. Peabody has since declared bankruptcy.

The White River Elk Herd (the world’s largest herd) migrate through the property annually, while over 1,000 elk live on the BTU Ranch year round. BTU Ranch is brimming with mule deer and also provides the opportunity to hunt black bear, mountain lion, prong horns and grouse.

There are no existing structural improvements on the property, allowing the future owner to choose a home site from a diverse selection of breathtaking settings and personally tailor a homestead to their exact standards.
